Winter Season Offerings

Flash Basketball will be providing two offerings in Winter (see the comparison below):

(1) Competitive: A program designed for a competitive player that want a traditional Flash Basketball season;

(2) Tournament Select: A program designed for players in 6th - 8th grades who are looking to play with other high level players against the best competition in Oregon while also playing for their feeder/school programs in an extended Winter Season.  No practices will be required and players opt in to play when they are available.  Select Tournament players will be invitation only based on tryouts.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1).  What is the difference between Flash Competitive and Flash Select Tournament Teams for this Winter?

Flash Select Tournament teams is a new program we’re offering primarily to 6-8th Graders who are also playing for their school/feeder programs this Winter.  These teams consist of high-level players through invitation or tryouts.  Once players receive their feeder/school game schedules, they can select to play in any number of tournaments with Flash Select based on their availability.  There are no practices for this program.  The goal is to provide high-level players the ability to play with and against better competition than what is typical of school/feeder teams.

Flash Competitive is more traditional Flash Competitive Basketball Season for 3rd-8th graders consisting of two practices a week and 5 weekends of games (12 games) at the Beaverton Hoop League.

2).  Can a player be on both Flash Competitive AND Flash Select?

No, Flash Competitive and Flash Select will play in different tournaments.  Since Flash Select Tourney teams do not hold practices, for those Flash Select interested and available, separate training opportunities will be provided through Flash Skills Academy  our basketball training facility in Hillsboro.

3).  Why is there a price difference between Flash Competitive and Flash Select Tournament Teams?

The biggest difference is Flash Competitive has practices twice a week and Flash Select teams do not have practices.  Flash Select Tournament fees cover up to 4 tournaments with cost added for any additional based on player availability whereas Flash Competitive fees cover all games in the Hoop League season.

4).  Do I try out for either Flash Competitive or Flash Select Tournament Teams?

Tryouts for 6-8th Grade are at the same time for both Flash Competitive and Flash Select Tournament teams.  As part of the tryout registration process, you will be asked which program you’re most interested in participating.  Both Flash Competitive and Flash Select Tournament teams are selected based on tryouts.
